Yeah I don't think so. Unless you scale it to an exact multiple, it's going to look like crap.
With subpixel anti-aliasing (how OS X does it now), it will scale well to any size. Naturally it will get a little blurry, but it depends how you define "look like crap" as to whether it will be acceptable or not.
The real problem is that this antialiasing is an expensive operation. Maybe they can do it all on the GPU now...but they're going to have to cache those pictures somewhere. This why its a good thing that # of cores are going up and memory is getting cheaper, we will be using lots more of each when we turn on all the candy in 10.5

This is so weird. I mean I have an iPod touch 4th gen, DS, PSP and I've got all my handheld consoles stored away. But I just can't get into iPod gaming. Your fingers get in the way most of the time and it just doesn't feel like a fully polished experience for 99% of games on the App store.
That's because touchscreen interfaces are still a new thing and it's going to take time and trial-and-error to figure out how to best use it for gaming. We're already seeing little moments of brilliance here and there. Have you tried Super MonkeyBall or Myst on iPad? They're right at home--better than in their original platforms.
But most game companies aren't looking at that yet. Right now, we're dealing with a lot of game companies wanting to impose virtual buttons or joysticks on the screen, which IMO, is a kludge. But then a game like Angry Birds comes along and it's a huge hit because they work with the hardware instead of trying to tie it down to the old way of doing things. Imagine playing Angry Birds on a console. What a painful experience that would be. And yet on a touchscreen, it's a pure joy.
Give it time. This touchscreen gaming thing has just started, and it will continue getting better as game companies figure out how to work with the hardware instead of fighting it.

Is that right? I've just got a replacement and it's saying a capacity of 12.1GB? I know on previous ones it's said ~14GB?

I'm not buying the iPhone 6 timeline.
The 5 rumors make some sense, so as to not piss off the new Verizon owners who couldn't wait for the 5 to come out in June. However, assuming the 5 isn't slated to begin production until October, why would Apple release a new phone 6 months (or less) later? That will just piss both AT&T AND Verizon users who upgrade to the 5. I can't see them ramping up production for a phone with a 6 month anticipated life span.

Change it to a bidding thing:D I would take down the buy it now and set it to .01 cents. You might get bids that way.

I have a video that i recorded back in October with my iPhone 4, but for some reason now it won't play. It says "The movie could not be opened. The file is not a movie file. I have tried a bunch of different corrupted video repair software programs....i got one to convert a little bit of it (you have to pay over $100 to get the full converted video.) While the video is a nice short little video, it isn't worth $100 to have it ...however, is there another way to fix these? i know it helps to have a video that is a reference video shot around the same time, which i do. if anyone has any suggestions, i would greatly appreciate it.
Tried opening in other players then QuickTime? The message doesnt say the file is corrupted is why I'm asking. Try at least VLC, Handbrake, and MPEG Streamclip...

I have my mac with me right now and i realized that word 2011 does not give you that option. all you would have to do is click on the line spacing button, and select line spacing options. From there towards the bottom of the newly popped up window there is a section called spacing. underneath that you will see before and after make sure they both are set to 0 pt.. that way there won't be a space before/after your paragraph.
best of luck!

I think that's pretty normal. Apps just start to use more RAM the longer you keep them up, whether or not people admit it.
For example, after Safari is open for a couple weeks, it uses much more RAM. Of course a large part of that is me having 52 tabs open, but I notice that while Safari uses 1.66 GB now, restarting Safari completely (and restoring all of my tabs via the extension Glims), uses 1.01 GB of RAM. Clearly, having Safari open causes an accumulation of RAM. I don't know if this is because browsing various sites causes those sites to be stored in RAM at all (I always thought they were just stored in the cache however).
I've noticed this with other programs too, like iTunes and iChat. Opening iChat can use maybe 60MB and it can rise to 100MB. iTunes can rise from 60-70MB to around 100-130MB.
I don't notice a slowdown really, but that is because I have 8GB of RAM. Nevertheless, if the RAM usage is important to you, you can use some apps over others. I found Adium uses consistently less RAM than iChat. You can quit out of iTunes when you aren't playing music. I'm not sure about Chrome, but maybe closing tabs will reduce the RAM occupied by that tab since Chrome sandboxes each tab. Either way, I don't know if I blame Snow Leopard. Did this happen in Leopard at all? I just figure it's because of lazy application developers who use the wealth of RAM available on computers today to be lazy with optimizing performance and resource intensiveness.

One of the things that irritates me about iTMS is the fact that I can't play my purchased tracks on anything other than an iPod.
This doesn't currently affect me as I own an iPod but I would like to be able to use them on other devices as well (such as AAC compatible phones etc.) . This restriction means that I do not purchase as much from iTMS as I might otherwise.
I am wondering how much extra money Apple gets from locking users of iTMS into the iPod system.
Would 'de-regulating' FairPlay in this way encourage owners of other players to buy from iTMS and would this extra revenue offset that losses from lower (potentially) from iPod sales?

Hey, someone from my Apple User Group is trying to sell their 1.33Ghz 17" pb. If you're interested, I'll PM them on our forum and ask what they want for it. It has 1GB RAM/Superdrive.

But see, that's just it. If we're working back and forth on .docs and .xls's, we can't have ANY formating problems - they've got to match. AND I'm not going to jump through any hoops by using this or that piece of software to make it happen. Don't have time - gotta produce!
When we first started to look into macs for our company the very first thing people wanted to know was how would documents look and be saved. ITs nice to say that openoffice is close, but close isnt a match. Im hoping the new ODF (open document format) will solve these problems! :D

I worked for a couple of years in the cell phone industry for a company that acts as an intermediary between cell phone companies for various products. As part of my job, I had to deal with various escalations departments for all of the carriers and found that T-mobile actually had pretty good customer service. Maybe not the best but certainly not the worst.
Personally, I use T-mobile now and get a few more dropped calls than if I were using Verizon but they are also cheaper and have much nicer phones because they support GSM. I think that they are a solid choice if you live in top 100 markets but if not they just don't have the coverage. I really hope that they can expand their market to become competitive with Cingular and Verizon. Competition is always a good thing and I think that they would probably make a good partner for Apple.

I have tried all three...it doesn't seem to play with any of them :(
When open in MPEG Streamclip (click "open anyway" when file isnt recognized), click "stream info" - what does it say?
Edit: BTW to be precise - sadly theres no easy free fix I know :-/ Check this out http://imnotbruce.blogspot.com/2009/07/fixing-corrupted-quicktime-files.html

I guess when you line up might depend on what model you want. Example; 16GB wifi will go out fast but they probably have more in stock..
I don't need one friday, but I'm wondering if friday night or saturday morning they'll still have a 16GB Verizon model and how long the wait would be to get in and purchase one.
Has anyone called the store to ask details of the launch?

I would like the 3d fad to be just that....a fad. It gives me headaches, as does virtual reality. Spend the extra dough to make a better game, not 3d that does nothing for the product...like Avatar.
I hear a few games are actually more helpful with 3D from what I read GT 5 utilizes it like you can see a little better who's behind you etc and NBA 2k11 shows of pretty well especially during replays.

I like the way the TrimSleeve looks and I like how it has the "easy pull out tab" thing but I don't like how leaves some of the MBA exposed. Also I need a case right away because I take my MBA to class everyday so I went ahead and bought the Pixelsleeve from Amazon today. I had a $10 credit so I only paid $22 after 1 day shipping. It'll be here tomorrow, I'm looking forward to seeing how it is. I'll post pics and impressions when it comes tomorrow.
