Super basic.
Better exception handling in Finder.
When you copy files and some already exist, rather than terminating the action with no clue what was the hold-up, complete it with a list of exceptions for dealing with as a separate matter.
There are other examples of where exception handling could be added.
Think of all the features we had under text based computers that were LOST when we went to graphical based computers, and reinstall them.
Even though many of the files are media, their names are text. :D
Funny suggestion: Finder personalities.

Yeah I like the vertical traffic lights too. Makes the top border smaller which is good. It helps by not taking as much pixels for the top border.

Sweet saw my youtube video linked on 9to5mac. Figure I'll post it here.

Runs great on MBP specs in sig, v-sync to prevent any screen tearing which I noticed when it was hitting 120+ FPS. Sync'd to 60 with triple buffer, looks smooth as eggs.
I loved the first Portal and The Orange Box, but $50 for Portal 2 seems kind of steep to me.
Not sure if the promo is still on, if you're in the US, Bestbuy.com had Portal 2 for $35 for PC/Mac. If not just wait for the PS3 owners to toss up their Steam codes on eBay for cheap.

Wear black armbands with a white Apple logo on them :)
Rocketman, does that mean that you're going to the FCP Power Tools workshop or the keynote, or both? I actually do have a black sweatband that I could wear if I remember to bring it. I plan on getting in line for the keynote early, so look for the 18 y/o idiot wearing the black armband.

Design has nothing to do with it. It is a function of availability of parts. If the parts are not being made yet, the phone can't be manufactured. I am hoping Apple is waiting for the second generation LTE chips.
Well yes,..
If the issue is purely the tech just isn't ready then throwing cash at it won't help.....
but Apple has a big horde of Cash so if the issue with the parts is the economic risk of retooling to build them and ramp up production. Then that is something pre-buying maybe able to solve.

Maybe this new Firmware will work with Vista now that it's gone Gold and Apple knows it's final boot issues.
Don't think bootcamp currently works with Vista because of EFI limitations.
vista worked fine even before this efi update.

Yes, Apple is a kind of Big Brother. They strictly control what people get to do with their devices. Some might call it censorship.
And what does Stewart complain about?
That they got mad at the guy who, well, paid a stranger to get his hands on their property and then even disassembled it?
Imagine losing your iPhone. The guy who finds it doesn't return it and sells it instead. And another guy takes it apart to look inside. You'd be mad, too. ;) Even if it wasn't a super secret candy pooping prototype.
QUESTION: Would the police in your town break down the door of someone who stole your cell phone?
ADMIT IT... Answer? NOPE!
And please let's go down the trade secrets route, we're not talking anything breakthrough here or nuclear technology. This was a crazed over-reaction by both local police authorities and Apple and they deserve to be roundly ridiculed, lambasted, and criticized for this complete waste of tax dollars and destruction of property and home invasion, all for a lost cell phone by a drunk guy in a bar.

Just wondering how upgrading to 8GB will affect XP (32 bit) running under bootcamp? I presume only up to 4GB can be addressed, but does anyone know of any other issues?
8GB won't help in XP 32-bit, unfortunately. 4GB is the max by defintion, and you might not even get the full 4GB (video card's memory might use up some).

Apple advantages:
- could be launched in a lot of countries (probably everywhere there currently is an iTunes Store)
Still has the same issue as Netflix, the studios have to approve it. Just like with sales from store to store where not all things are available in all stores

While a neat technology, it's a bit of a stretch to really call this "glasses-free 3D". Unlike the 3DS, where actual illustion of depth is present, this is just changing the perspective on a rendered 3D object on the screen based on head position. The image that the left and right eye sees are the same, thus no actual "3D" effect.

Yes, it blends. Everything blends... But tell me someone what does this man need these stupid experiments for? I don't understand people doing such things just for fun. For me it seems even a bit sacrilegeous.
He isn't doing it just for fun...it's good publicity. People are constantly passing around links to videos on that site and saying omg this blender is amazing.
And it really does look amazing. My blender can barely blend ice cubes.

To me, beer is beer. Golf and hanging out at the lake are about the only time I drink beer anyway. My drink of choice is whiskey, Jack Daniel's Tennessee Sippin whiskey neat to be specific.
And I bet you couldn't pick that out of a line up with similar whiskies.

Until they come out with an iPod with a widescreen display I don't see the point.
Because it's really easy to connect an iPod to your TV and watch your videos that way. There are also several peripherals (http://podophile.com/2006/07/26/memorex-announces-iflip-video-player-for-ipod/) coming out soon that add a larger wide screen to the iPod. And don't forget watching videos on your MacBook or MacBook pro.

From the description of a touchpad I'm seeing this as a full size tactile sensitive pad which can be configured by the overlay (using a unique ID) and a driver extension to accept the overlays input in whichever way is best suited to relay that input. Example: a keyboard overlay is just a matrix of buttons that when pressed would then press the pad and relay the key input. A drawing tablet overlay would relay input from it's entire surface like a Wacom. A mixing board would be able to use the sliders position of contact with the pad relative to preprogrammed x/y coords on the pad to relay it's input... even complex motions such as a knob tuner could be relayed via a swivel brush that would stroke the pad underneath in a preset arc that could be interpreted as correct input for a tuner, going through multiple 360 degree rotations.
This interface concept has a lot of possibilities... we'll see some of them, it's just too good of an idea.

Perhaps, but they seemingly let it fly under the radar for a reason, and now its been exposed, what will the repercussions be?
Why can't we just have a secret update to iChat that unlocks Facetime or something?

While I hate to bring religion into this a large part of culture stems from ideas that are thousands of years old,the big difference is the Japanese do not have a concept of original sin but instead have the idea of Karma. That is they don't expect people to behave badly and lo and behold in general they don't (this is not to say there aren't people who behave extremely badly in Japan there are) on a community basis they wouldn't think to loot unless things get much worse than they are now, taking to ensure survival is not stealing.
How do they view Karma in relation to this catastrophe? That something they did as a group caused it? Or is Karma just between how people treat each other?

This entire thread breaks the NDA developers agree to when paying their membership. It's pathetic that some developers would do this just so they can feel cool by leaking the info. If you want access to the seeds or up-to-date info then pay the $500 (minimum) like the honest developers have to
From Apples agreement:
"Pre-release software is Apple Confidential information. Unauthorized distribution of pre-release software or disclosure of information relating to pre-release software (including the distribution of screen shots) may result in immediate termination of your ADC membership, and may subject you to both civil and criminal liability."
I know I'm not in ADC at all (as a Windows Mobile developer), and most of this thread is from people who are not in ADC, so I can't see how this whole thread is.
