I have the Panasonic TM900 with 5.1 sound. DH is right of course, any wind or sounds further away are just that.
In terms of editing, I used Clipwrap to unrwap them into prores and there's 4 audio tracks in FCP. I haven't even installed the Panasonic included software nor have I had time to really sort it out. I will be soon though b/c my card is start to fill up so the need is there :)
In terms of optics, it's a great camcorder. Great footage thus far.

i'm just happy to say that i got a friend to switch from pc's to macs. i met up with one of my girlfriends at lake tahoe over new year's, and whipped out my powerbook to show her some pictures in iphoto. she took it and played around with it afterward while we were watching tv. she mentioned she was looking for a new laptop, and i gave her a brief demo and sales pitch about why i loved my powerbook so much and recommended them to her. she didn't seem too thrilled, so i didn't push it. but after she got back home, she calls me up (while i'm at the macworld expo, of all places) and asks me for the specs on my powerbook so she could take it to stores to compare to pc laptops as she shopped. i sent her a long e-mail that day with more info about my mac and tried to point out that there wouldn't be an "apples to apples" :D comparison with pc's, and included a spec sheet downloaded from the apple site. i encouraged her to go to an apple store and check one out, and told her about the educational discount as well. next thing i know, she sends me an e-mail saying she ordered a BTO 12" powerbook! now, i am completely jealous (she has the rev. b model with an 80 gb hard drive and 1 gb of RAM, where i have a rev. a model). and she is loving her pb! despite my jeaousy, i am happy that she's enjoying it so far. now i just have my fingers crossed that she doesn't have any issues with it, or else my reputation is going to be shot!

Does anyone have a facebook fan page set up for your photography? I never really considered setting one up before. Just figured the website would be sufficient, and email for receiving messages and etc. But, today, on a whim I went for it and set up an artist page. It's actually quite interesting, and a whole different experience from maintaining your normal photography site. Actually, since I'm in the beginning stages of a new site design, which will essentially be a restructuring from the ground up for how it is utilized, do you think it is best to leave the interaction side of things to facebook and let the website be more of a deep archive of the work, resume, etc?
If you're interested in checking out the fb artist page I set up, which actually includes in progress images of new work I'm putting together, it can be found at http://www.facebook.com/andybloxhamimagery

Why not just buy the Mac version of AutoCAD?
I am going to guess and say because a windows license cost much less than buying another Autocad license.

I was about to do the info page for "PowerPC" when I found that wikipedia already has a very complete and factually referenced entry on it (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PowerPC) For broad topics like these, is it acceptable to use their page? Or should something else be done, like a link to wikipedia? I know much of the information on the page doesn't apply to Macs specifically, so should that be removed?
Edit: and material on the 68000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/68000)?

I'm staying on 4.3 until something definitive comes out jailbreak wise. Why bother risking anything.

wow, that explains your attitude then. Apple has never been interested in catering to technology fetishists like you, and never will be. why don't you go post constructive comments on Android forums instead of negative ones on Apple forums?
I'm fairly confident that anyone who owns an Apple product would disagree with you. Most would say they WANT the latest and greatest technology, but Apple doesn't make it available.
Don't be bitter.

heres a link to stanford's results (may be technical)

yeah, that's too detailed for me to make any sense of. i was hoping for a paragraph or two outlining the progress or advances they've made as a result of all of our contributions...

Self follow-up: two reasonable options seem to exist.
The PowerBook Duo supports SCSI Disk Mode when used with the Mini Dock. So in principle I think I could obtain the correct cabling and a USB SCSI interface and directly dump files onto the PowerBook from my MacBook. Since the PowerBook is on 7.6.1 and the MacBook on 10.6, I'd need either to downgrade my MacBook to 10.5 or to upgrade my PowerBook to 8.1 since 10.6 doesn't write to HFS and 8.1 introduces HFS+. Also, USB SCSI interfaces seem to be quite expensive nowadays.
Alternatively, I could get a USB to serial interface and connect the two machines up for zmodemy NULL serial transfers. Per at least one post I've found on the Internet, if I can get FreePPP onto the PowerBook then I can use the PPP daemon built into OS X and even bridge 7.6.1 onto the Internet, allowing it to fetch as many files as it wants or to FTP onto my Pro. USB serial interfaces seem to be a lot more available than USB SCSI, but this doesn't solve the original problem of getting some software onto the machine.

I used to have this wallpaper years ago, never saved it but did love it.
I even found an abstract version of it somewhere online where they got rid of the stars and the purple aurora area was simply purple shady lines..
Yes it's 'Orion Nebula' (3360x1050 MOD); I don't know from where I got it ..
anyway I uploaded it here (http://www.pctunerup.com/up/image.php?src=_201011/20101101193823_01881_orionnebula_MOD.jpg) ;)

I could never figure out what the problem was with the screen margins. Look how the last letter in "Marketplace" is cut off. This drove me insane when I first saw this image - I thought it was a beta screen. But this was how it shipped apparently. I've noticed the same thing happen in some of the WinPhone7 screen shots and product demos. Can anyone explain this to me? What were the designers thinking?

The Intuos is far more advanced than the Graphire. I have a Graphire and I have a Bamboo; both are great, but the Intuos is more advanced than either of them. If I were you, I would get the Intuos.

Glad to see this generation wasn't a flop.
I'd buy an 11"er if it had a backlit keyboard and the price was around $800. Personally, just saying. And no, I don't want an iPad.

Ok. Ok. The damn thing is a fake. How do I know, because an apple rep from the apple store came in the night of the Jaguar release and informed me that four former apple designers came up with the hoax. They built a plastic rendition using a computer and a laser cutter. They then superimposed the newton OS onto the face of the device. The person writing was writing on a the screen, but it was the newton doing all the work. The reason why it looks a little different is they just adjusted the colors and some of the icons to meet a more "OSX" look. Man..that sucks. I know... I know...I should have known, but damn.
Peace.
Peace.
