I was AMAZED to see a video on my iPad off CNN of people in the affected areas of Japan calmly walking through a food store with 90% empty shelves. Calmly, quietly picking up one or two things here or there placing them in the cart and moving on. An interview of a shopper through interpreter announced "This is the only store with any stock...." and yet it was a peaceful as can be. :)

I found the 11 to be too small for my needs. Can't really get serious work done on it so I gave it to my sister.

I love it when Google/Samsung/Sony/Motorola employees create new MacRumors accounts (join date Mar 2011) just to try to propagate garbage like this. Obviously trying to start a new antennagate. If you can't beat them in sales, try to start some bogus stories in the blogs and hope the media picks up on it.
THIS JUST IN: My iPad 2 is absolute fine and its in my hands right now. Anybody else who really has one complaining?
Sorry but that's not the case, created an account just recently to provide my input on this issue on another thread. I am 3 iPads down with problems and still hoping the 4th will arrive with no leakage or dead pixels. I'm glad yours is "absolute fine" but if you do a search or just ask around you will find this is a widespread problem

I couldn't disagree with you more.
10.1.0 was terrible. And several things about Tiger have been welcome additions, I particularly enjoy Dashboard (although I know some people hate it, and I know Yahoo Widget Engine is an option as well, but not as good/seamless), and especially Automator. Automator has been absolutely wonderful.
Not to mention that my older computer actually saw a noticable speed increase with Tiger vs. 10.3. Sure, it wasn't as revolutionary as OS X when it first came out, but to me it was the best 10.x release thus far.
Also, I didn't run into any bugs at 10.4.0 other than the left/right audio balance bug (which I believe stuck around til 10.4.3).
I agree with you. I went from 10.(1) to 10.3 and found a HUGE improvement. When I went to Tiger, it just got better. Better connectivity for wireless and talking to other computers. Trying to get the Mac networked to Windows was a headache, with Panther, it was easier, Tiger got it to the point where you didnt have to do much at all!
Now though, I can see some parts of Tiger's flaws. You get the impression theres a hole somewhere, but that said, its ALOT more stable than the other OSX releases. (In my experience anyway)

It also seems like people aren't used to the fact that iTunes organizes your music files for you -- they want to go into each folder and name things themselves. SO DIFFICULT.

I believe like the earlier posts.
If it is gonna happen, it has to be sometime in the middle of November.
It has to happen before black Friday. I lot of gifts are bought that day. Making an announcement after black Friday would not make any sense at all.
They either do it before black Friday or wait until MacWorld.
Maybe Apple is thinking, lets make them buy all the current stock of iPods, then we'll launch the new iPod:rolleyes:

Also: we discovered that there's a registration table set up right in front of the designated Horseshoe booth. Don't let that deter you... you can walk behind the table to get to the booth.
Right, thanks for mentioning it. This actually turned out to a good thing -- this lounge area was otherwise virtually empty. Hardly anyone else braved the registration table, so the MR group had it all to themselves.
If I make it today it will probably be on the late side. We decided to take the ferry over to Sausalito this morning.
Here, if someone can update the rest of it I'd be grateful. :o
You think you're bad with names? I'm impressed -- I couldn't have got half of them right. (No offense to anyone -- I'm really bad with names!)

If it's a non issue - why the open letter? Why the press conference? Why the bad press?
Because the press can latch onto anything that makes someone look bad and hammer on despite facts. The press do not have the same goals as Apple does - they want to sell a story. Apple is trying to sell a phone. If the press can sell a story that reveals a failure out of a successful company and get viewers in the process they will do it. The fact is, the media is not always limited by the facts. They sell controversy.
I don't understand how he can say "the facts are different."
And that "fact" may not be an actual fact. The world is much larger than your own personal perception of it. This is the world that companies play in.
He can very well say that if people are making false assumptions about things.

"One more thing..." is (and should) only be used when Steve announces something very cool, and which would also be come kind of surprise.
Let's be honest.... the Mac Pro was not a surprise. Ok, the all-Quad config was, but the computer itself was not worth the "One more thing..." entrance, like the intro of the G5 in 2003 was.
Maybe a 42" Cinema Display, or Conroe iMac or Merom MacBook Pro could have been one...

Apple's never shown any signs of being keen on Virtual Desktops so I'm not sure where that's coming from, especially as the "Hide/show" feature of NEXTSTEP that ended up in OS X is, arguably, slightly more useful anyway.
If they do have it, I hope it's like the Amiga's screens, with desktops opening and closing automatically rather than being permanently open. They need to be self-managing, and designed to make computing easier to understand. Traditional "multiple desktops" are a powerful feature, but I don't think they aid understandability.
Yeah, I have the same feeling. I like virtual desktops myself, but they're going to be hard to make intuitive.
I thought I'd heard something about Apple Remote being integrated into Leopard-- can't remember where though... Maybe they're getting the two concepts confused? Maybe I am?

Oh come on .. Well know why this was done. Just go read the post about when it was released. I could see this coming a mile away. Either a they would do this or b they would start doing the audits they talk about with educational purchases. There must have been atleast 50 people who blatantly posted about abusing the discount on a "public forum" and hundreds maybe thousands more who thougt of it. Lets say I owned a store and I saw a forum online where 50 plus people said they knew a way to rip off my store, do you think I would leave it vulnerable? I dont know ... maybe this is the reason or maybe it isnt but I think ts great they did it. Because now all the people who thought they could do this and thought its no different from walking in a store and walking out with out paying for an item, will have to mow a few more lawns or bag a few more grocerys and pay what the rest of the honest people out there will. I know I know I am sounding uber negative here but not nearly as negative as someone trying to justify stealing on a "public forum".
Kevin
Guess what - now a bunch of people who were going to buy this won't buy anything and just wait. Great. You're so obsessed with calling it stealing - HEY - guess what - Apple still makes money off of it and last time I checked making $ is better than not making $. We even see legitimate edu customers getting shafted by this. One poor guy's g/f is now stuck with an e-machine. Yeah that's just wonderful. Is it stealing if you go to Amazon.com and get the $100 discount on the MacBook? That's all it is - a $100 discount (historically speaking) and apple is, in fact, in the business of 1 - Making $ and 2- Increasing user-base (which results in making money). Hurry hurry, quick quick. Grab a calculator. What is greater. 10%*899*1000(just a guess as to how many purchases would be made by people who otherwise aren't going to get a Mac) or 0*0*0. That's right - if you sell things at any profit margin to people who otherwise wouldn't buy anything you are still doing better!!!!!!!!!! Get an economic brain in your head - or better yet - grab some common sense and get off your high horse.

Actually, it will be better than Garmin.
What they do, is they hire local people to watch you via the position tracking. Then, they can give you directions based on your exact location.
Imagine, "Slow down for upcoming pot hole on left."
Hey, that'd be great! And they could offer a "Find My Car" service and help you report thefts and unauthorized access.
"Hey, did you let your daughter borrow your car today? Because there she goes!"

This isn't going to be a 'live stream'.
It says "Live Broadcast" for me. Having worked in TV for the past 15 years, that usually means it's a live broadcast.

what would be the big differences with the current iphone?
based on the rumors i saw, the updated version will only show incremental borderline irrelevant improvements?
am I missing something?
Bolded these for the sheer hilarity.
Yeah, reality, that's what you're missing. Not the same as rumorz
